Executive Directors Message
The New Year is almost here and the ISRA is preparing for 2019. I am sure I don’t need to remind you that 2019 is going to be a challenging year, to say the least. If some of your friends need reminding, let them know right away and recruit them into the fight. We are going to see every kind of gun control scheme ever invented and introduced into legislation this coming year and on into the next. The claim will be that these gun control ideas that will be written into legislation will prevent crime and save us all but, while at the same time, the sponsors will mouth the words that we believe in the Second Amendment. Nothing, of course, is further from the truth. The veil of deception is being pulled aside more every day and more gun owners are realizing the anti-gunners’ real goal: total destruction of civilian gun ownership. Gun owners are facing a well-financed, well-orchestrated campaign to destroy the Second Amendment. Their goal is not to talk to gun owners but to influence the non-gun-owning public unfamiliar with firearms and stampede them in to fearing firearms and those who own firearms. They use arguments that are not true but that doesn’t matter to them. The problem is the endlessly financed propaganda machine of the Michael Bloomberg and George Soros types relentlessly filling the airwaves. That is a big problem and we have to face it. I get calls from well-meaning gun owners urging me and other pro-gun people to just explain the facts to the anti-gun side and they will understand. No, they won’t. They want to change the United States permanently into a socialist quagmire and gun control is an important part of that plan. The battle has already started. It is time for gun owners to realize it is not someone else and their guns they are after, it is you and me. Join the ISRA today! The internet rumor mill is running at Mach 2.5 regarding the recently implemented New Jersey magazine ban. The ban took effect on December 10, 2018. New Jersey previously had a 15-round limit on magazines but, in June, the New Jersey Legislature reduced the limit to 10 rounds. This, of course, left the law-abiding New Jersey gun owners, who had complied with the previous law, out in the cold again. The options the New Jersey gun owners had were to: turn their magazines in, destroy them, modify them to hold only 10 rounds, or something called safe storage which I assume means you can have them but not use them. I would think the last provision contemplated a law suit which the Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club (ANJRPC) filed the day after the governor signed the law. The case was heard by a three-judge panel of the 3rd Circuit. The panel was made up of two Obama appointees and one Trump appointee so we know how that went. The ANJRPC has asked for a full hearing before the 3rd Circuit. I expect the same results because Obama packed the Court with left-wing judges. It will then be on to the United States Supreme Court. Anyone who think courts aren’t political is living in La La Land. Thanks for being a member.
