ISRA Thursday Bulletin - November 1, 2018

Executive Directors Message

A few months ago, I discussed the importance of applying for your FOID card immediately.  Please be very careful, particularly if you are unfamiliar with a computer; if you answer anything wrong, it becomes a mess.  When sending correspondence to the Illinois State Police (ISP) for your FOID, please send your documents either priority mail with a tracking number or send them certified mail (signed for).  This will allow you to track and ensure receipt of your documents.  Remember: if you are an ISRA member, our office will assist you.  You will need to call Mary at 815.635.3198 to schedule an appointment.

As of October 31, 2018:
FOID – 2,287,291
ICCL – 318,435

Elections are always a long way off until suddenly they aren’t.  Such is the case with the 2018 Midterm Elections.  They were a year away, then they were months away, weeks away and now they are just a few days away.  Everyone must work until the last second to get as many pro-gun candidates elected as possible.  So, for gun owners, man your battle stations; all hands on deck.  This is not a drill!

This election is going to be a nail biter.  If it is not apparent to you by now, every vote is important.  Let me clear this up for those who don’t get it.  A vote for J.B. Pritzker is a vote for J. B. Pritzker; a vote for Sam McCann is a vote for J. B. Pritzker; a vote for Kash Jackson is a vote for J. B. Pritzker; a vote for anyone else for Governor is a vote for J. B. Pritzker, and not voting is a vote for J.B. Pritzker.

The strategy is simple, vote for Bruce Rauner.  I don’t care if you are sick, the car won’t start, it’s your grandchildren’s birthday or whatever, go vote for Bruce Rauner.

Nationally, the Midterm Elections means the whole ballgame for gun owners.  There are some real lulus who could get elected.  The epidemic of lame brain politicians is not confined to only Illinois.  We should remember who is funding these people, George Soros, Michael Bloomberg and Tom Steyer, to name a few, are Socialist billionaires.  Some of their contributions are to the Democrat Party but most of their money goes to front groups which are the foot soldiers for their socialist causes.  The people you see beating on the doors of the Capitol, tearing up New York City and causing trouble are, most likely, sent from their front groups.

To give you an idea, last Monday, it was reported that Michael Bloomberg tossed another 20 million into a couple of campaigns in hopes of pushing his candidates over the top in the final few days.  I expect there will be more.

I must tell you, I really don’t like what has happened in the Country.  This is exemplified by what is happening in the Arizona Senate race.  The matchup is between Martha McSally and Kyrsten Sinema.  McSally is a retired full Colonel from the U.S. Air Force.  She is a distinguished grad of the Air Force Academy, the first woman to command a fighter squadron, was awarded a Bronze Star and six Air Medals.  In 2014, she was elected to Congress from Arizona’s Section Congressional District and has been named to the list of the top 10 most effective legislators in Congress.

Kyrsten Sinema teaches at Arizona State University and advocates for all kinds of socialist programs.  You could write her accomplishments on the back of a postage stamp and still have room for a copy of James A. Michener’s “Hawaii” (937 pages).

There is no comparison and yet McSally leads by only seven tenths of a point.  As a person who grew up in a town where every man who was eligible served in WWII, the flag was flown on nearly every house, campaign medals and Purple Hearts everywhere, I am sad to see what has happened to the United States.  Two of my father’s Purple Hearts are on my bookshelf next to my desk.   Whatever the outcome of this election, we have a lot of work to do.
