ISRA Thursday Bulletin - August 30, 2018

Executive Directors Message

We recognize Labor Day weekend as the unofficial end of Summer.  Hunting season starts and for you ladies wearing white, it will be out of fashion according to Emily Post or some other self-appointed fashion pundits.

This year will be no different except for a couple things.  First, Labor Day starts the prelude to the 2018 Midterm Elections and for gun owners in Illinois and across the country everything is on the line.  Gun owners who decide not to vote or to make a protest vote for someone who cannot win, will yield disastrous results.  To those gun owners, I say, get over it and move on.  Vote early, vote absentee or get to the poles and a cast your vote for the best Second Amendment candidate on the ballot.  Stop looking for the perfect candidate; they are not running this year!

The second major thing is something we have not seen before.  For a long time, the political left had control of the mainstream (lamestream) media.  Now the political left has control of all the social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the rest.  For the candidates and others who are Conservative and pro Second Amendment, voices are being stifled up to 90% of the time.  This means you, I and the rest of the public are not allowed to hear those voices and opinions.  We all must be aware of this, stay strong and fight back with our votes.  Lenin, Stalin, and Chairman Mao would be envious of the job the political left and their fellow travelers in all the forms of media have done.

The constant blitz of talking heads keeps our attention.  Who is saying what about whom jams the plethora of media we are all exposed to.  Sometimes we can learn a lot by who is not talking.  Hillary has suddenly shut up and Bill Clinton quieted down a couple months ago.  Brennan, Comey and the rest of that pact have mostly vanished from the air waves.  Maybe someone figured out you can BleachBit your own computer, destroy your own cell phones, iPads, tablets and other devices and records, but the Chinese, Russians, Iranians and North Koreans did not destroy theirs.  How about the NSA?  Orange may be the most popular color for those folks inside the beltway.  Since Hillary isn’t giving high dollar speeches anymore maybe she can pick up some quick cash being her jovial self by impersonating the Great Pumpkin at Halloween parties when she gets her brand-new orange pant suit.

The recent shooting at the gaming center in Florida has prompted another bout of Firearm Derangement Complex from the anti-gun mob.  The perpetrator was from Baltimore, Maryland.  He was in a mental facility twice in Maryland which, of course, was never reported to the FBI or the National Instant Check System (NICS).  Consequently, he was able to purchase two handguns in Maryland which he transported across state lines for the purpose of committing a crime which was in a Gun Free Zone. Now Florida Democrats are blaming Florida Republicans for the crime.

Next Tuesday, the confirmation hearings for Judge Kavanaughs appointment to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) will begin.  We will see Senator Charles Schumer, of New York, lead one of the nation’s greatest spectacles in hypocrisy but, none the less, Kavanaugh will be confirmed.  While all that makes gun owners feel more comfortable I will remind you that neither Judge Kavanaugh or President Donald Trump is a member of the Illinois State Legislature or any other state legislature.  The battle for us is right here in Illinois.

The ISRA is followed by many people in many countries besides the United States.  Right now, we have active followers in 43 other countries.  I just want to give you all a shout-out and say thank you for following us.  I have met shooters from around the world and there is not one of them I havent gotten along with or liked.  I have often thought that if shooters should run the world instead of politicians, the world would be a much more agreeable place.  In fact, I will make that motion.  Is there a second?

Thanks for being a member.
