Executive Directors Message
The National Rifle and Pistol Matches continue at three locations this year - Camp Perry, Ohio; Camp Atterbury, Indiana and Bristol, Indiana. The ISRA shooting teams are at all of those locations. Camp Perry hosted the National Conventional (Bullseye) Pistol Matches. I am proud to say the ISRA had more pistol teams than any other state. The ISRA Expert teams finished in the middle of the pack. There are a lot of Expert teams. The ISRA Marksman teams finished second and fourth. Ron Wolflick finished First Police Expert and Jeff Battaglia was Second Sharpshooter. Well done folks. The ISRA Smallbore (.22 rimfire) teams, members and coaches continue their stellar performance at the championships in Bristol, Indiana. The ISRA Junior Prone Smallbore Gold team won the National Championship which included senior teams; they won by 30 points. They also won the Junior Three Position (3P) Any Sight Match. The ISRA Junior team is made up of Josie Peters, Marina Gratz, Jaden Thompson, Ty Scher and David Donsen. So far, our ISRA members are winning in the overall standings and in the classes. One example is when I looked at the Any Sight Prone Match. Paula Lambertz was third and was also 1st Expert, Ty Scher was 4th Expert, David Denson was 1st Sharpshooter and Jaden Thompson was 1st Marksman. Josette Peters and Martina Gratz also scored well and are up and coming shooters. I am sure that this pattern will continue to repeat itself. The recent online NRA Shooting Sports magazine has an article that features the ISRA Junior team. Check it out at nrashootingsports/championships. It is slightly over 100 days until the midterm elections and the time between now and then is going to go fast. If you are a gun owner make sure you and all your friends are registered to vote. The Illinois Gun Violence Political Action Committee and the Gifford’s have joined forces and made endorsements in Illinois legislative races. The organization, known as G-PAC, has endorsed several Republican legislators. This is the first time an anti-gun organization has endorsed Republicans in Illinois. They are: Senator Chris Nybo, Senator Tom Rooney, Senator John Curran and Representative Peter Breen. This is a clear message to gun owners that the fight is on. The ISRA will be fighting for you. This fight will be the most costly in history! Please donate to the ISRA-Political Victory Fund. Thanks for being a member.
