Massad Ayoob MAG40 Comes to Sparta

Illinois State Rifle Association is proud to host Massad Ayoob’s MAG40 class at the World Shooting and Recreation Complex in Sparta, Illinois.

This 40-hour training course will be held Thursday, August 20 through Sunday, August 23, 2026.

MAG40 is one of the most respected firearms training programs in the country. The course includes both classroom and range time, with a strong focus on the legal, tactical, and aftermath issues tied to armed self-defense.

Students will cover important topics including:

Threat recognition and mindset
Legal issues surrounding self-defense
Tactical decision-making
Preparing beforehand for legal repercussions
Aftermath management
And much more

For law-abiding gun owners, training matters. Knowing how to safely handle a firearm is only part of the responsibility. You also need to understand when force may be justified, what happens after a defensive incident, and how to prepare yourself before trouble ever arrives.
