Criminals Walk Free—Watch President Doug Mayhall’s Update and Stay Connected

I’m Doug Mayhall, President of the Illinois State Rifle Association. The ISRA has always stood firm in our mission: defending the rights of law-abiding gun owners in our state. But today, those rights are under attack like never before.

While anti-Second Amendment politicians work overtime to take guns away from law-abiding citizens, dangerous criminals with guns roam free. The irony could not be more tragic. Instead of holding violent offenders accountable, our leaders have chosen to punish the very people who respect the law, follow the rules, and simply want to protect their families.

Here are the facts in Chicago:

• More than 90% of violent offenders remain on the streets every day.
• The Chicago Police Department has over 1,600 vacancies.
• In 2023, more than 225,000 high-priority 911 calls went unanswered.

Since Illinois ended cash bail, over 67,000 defendants have skipped court dates.

We know that firearms in the hands of responsible citizens save lives. We know that criminals do not follow laws, no matter how many new restrictions Springfield passes. And we know that disarming the innocent does nothing to stop the guilty.

That is why the ISRA will never back down. We will continue to fight in the courts, in the legislature, and in our communities. And most importantly, we will remind every politician: the Second Amendment is not a privilege — it is a constitutional right.

But we cannot do this alone. We need you in this fight.

Together, we must ensure that Illinois remains a place where freedom is valued, where self-defense is respected, and where law-abiding citizens are never treated like criminals.
