ISRA South Suburban Cook County Grassroots Meeting is June 8

Join your friends at the ISRA South Suburban Cook County Grassroots meeting. As always, we will discuss current events.

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 8^th, at Kenootz Pizza, 4659 147^th St., Midlothian, IL. 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Our guest speaker will be Mychael Waller Sr., owner of Mj's Firearms, LLC. Mychael started his business in 2018, which stemmed from his passion and love of firearms, gunsmithing, and helping others to develop a knowledge base of firearms and firearms safety. He started this journey shortly after he graduated from high school when he studied a double major in criminal justice and fitness leadership at Waubonsee Community College. During his third semester in college, he learned he had a son on the way and named him Mychael Waller Jr. a.k.a. MJ. 

Mychael then decided to switch paths and enrolled in the American Gunsmithing Institute (A.G.I.) and was awarded a certification in building AR-15 rifles and Glock striker-fired polymer handguns. In 2013, he became the first employee for the first African American AR-15 manufacturing company in the United States' history. After four years, he worked his way up to lead gunsmith and armor. In 2018, after the company went out of business, Mychael founded his own business. He applied for and obtained his Federal Firearms License (FFL) at the age of 24. 

Mychael became the first African American under the age of 25 in the state of Illinois to obtain an FFL in American history and the youngest FFL holder in the country as of date. 

What inspired him to get into firearms training? A few incidents that occurred on May 27th, 2019, and April 30^th, 2022, both self-defense shootings, encouraged him to start developing a non-profit organization and become a firearm instructor. Mychael strongly believes it is necessary that the average citizen, police officer, active duty/veteran, etc., should become more efficient in self-defense. He is confident that his story will inspire responsible gun owners not to become victims of gun violence.

Our host Kenootz Pizza will serve a buffet-style dinner with unlimited soft drinks starting at 6:30 pm.

The cost of the buffet is $13.00.
