Today we celebrate the 4th of July, a truly unique American holiday. A holiday that can be celebrated by all Americans. This is a day of celebration when friends and family get together to enjoy cookouts, picnics, sports, and fireworks.
It is on this day in 1776, that a
group of enlightened but otherwise ordinary men with families, had hopes and dreams for a better future, boldly pass the Declaration of Independence. They knew they were challenging the most powerful nation in the world at that time. It took unbelievable courage; they knew some or all of them would suffer and maybe even die because of their action. Nevertheless,
they were driven to make the United States a free and better place for themselves, their children, and future generations.
Indeed, all of the signers of the Declaration of Independence did suffer. Many were killed, had their property seized and many died penniless. Because of their bravery and sacrifice they gave all Americans the greatest of gifts, a new country, and the freedom to pursue life, liberty, and happiness.
Happy 4th of July
