Today, a federal judge for the Southern District of Illinois
issued a preliminary injunction that blocks Illinois’ ban on more than 170 semi-automatic firearms and magazines over certain capacities. The law took effect on January 10, 2023, but shortly after, lawsuits were filed in state and federal court.
“We want to thank Judge McGlynn for issuing his ruling today,” said Richard Pearson, Executive Director of the Illinois State Rifle Association. “We have said from day one that this law is unconstitutional and infringes on the rights of legal firearm
owners in our state. As the leader in protecting 2nd Amendment rights, we will not stop supporting our residents and their constitutional rights.”
